The Mekong Delta: Itinerary

Day 1: Saigon - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho

Depart Saigon after breakfast to Cai Ly (about two hours). After arrival, embarking on bikes on scenic road, passing fruit orchards and expansive, emerald rice fields en route to Cai Be. After arrival in Cai Be, board local sampan (boat) for drifting down the smaller branches of the Mekong River through floating markets and waterfront villages.

Delightful lunch in an ancient, wooden house prepared by the owner. In the afternoon, boating and continued cycling through Dong Phu, Hoa Ninh and to An Binh Island, and to Vinh Long. Transfer to Can Tho. Dinner free in town or dining at the resort. Accommodation at the French resort Victoria Can Tho (featuring some of the best massages in Vietnam). (L)

Day 2: Around Can Tho
Bike too Big	Rise early morning to witness the beautiful sunrise on the Delta and board sampan to explore tha bustling Cai Rang floating market and Phong Dien market, some of the last floating markets in Asia. Afterward, mount bikes for pleasant riding under the lush green, jungle canopy in one of the most scenic areas of the Delta passing through numerous villages. Accommodation at Victoria Can Tho. Day 3: Can Tho to Saigon
After breakfast, biking and boating by sampan through the tranquil paths and lush canals of the area, accompanied by locals commuting on bikes along the scenic, back country roads. Pause for exotic tropical fruit tasting at one the many fruit orchards. After lunch, return to Saigon by private car stopping briefly at a tranquil bonsai garden in My Tho for tea. (B,L)	Ben Tre
Optional 4th Day with Chau Doc
High on Sam Mountain	Early morning sampan cruise to Cai Rang floating market. Afterward, mount bikes for long ride (about 3 hours) along scenic country roads through agrarian villages and orchards. Stop at a fruit orchard for exotic fruit tasting and lunch with a farming family. Continue biking to O Mon and the Thot Not Stork Sanctuary. Lunch en route, followed by transfer to Chau Doc. Leisurely hike up Sam Mountain with views over the Delta and neighboring Cambodia. Accommodation at French Victoria Can Tho Something unique ? Consider crossing over to Cambodia with us to Phnom Penh by river. After a a few hours exploring the capital city, return flight to Saigon or head north for our Angkor tour. (B,L)
