Cycling in Mai Chau, Vietnam
More Information

CYCLING ABILITY:

Most of our scheduled tours are designed for all cycling abilities although conditions may vary by destination. A high degree of strength and stamina are NOT pre-requisites for our trips by any means, although you should be skilled with bike handling and comfortable cycling roads typical of a developing country. If you have NOT traveled in a developing country on bicycle before, you should not begin in Vietnam, but rather join our Myanmar or Thailand trips. Still unsure? Ask us if this this trip right for you. We would also be glad to put you in contact with past travelers, of all abilities, if you would like more feedback. We can also arrange custom, private tours designed for preferred activity level balanced with cultural and other interests for your group of friends or family.

LANDCOST:

Your tour fees cover almost everything, except international airlines, required visas and a few dinners on your own (where there are choices, recommendation made). Landcost always includes emergency medical and air evacuation coverage through SOS International which operates clinics in Vietnam and throughout Southeast Asia. All equipment, including imported kayaks and newer model Raleigh USA, Trek and Specialized hybrid bikes are also included in tour cost. Pre- and post-tour travel planning is our pleasure to provide.

ACCOMMODATION:

Some tours feature the best luxury properties in each city (such as the Metropole in Hanoi or Ana Mandar in Nha Trang). Other trips stay in the finest three and four-star boutique hotels available, chosen for comfort, character and location — our favorite places.

AIRLINE:

We can assist with securing international airlines. For mileage programs, click here for Vietnam Airline Travel Information. If you want to use your miles, Cathay is a member of One World Alliance which includes American Airlines. Note: Airlines can fill months in advance, please plan accordingly.

FLEXIBILITY:

Our destinations reach far beyond the historical and scenic sites we offer on our itineraries and we encourage you to explore on your own at anytime during the tour. Day trips with the group and riding days are always optional. Additionally, no two tours are the same! The route posted will likely differ from the final. We constantly modify our itineraries by necessity, such as taking advantage of newly opened roads, and to keep every tour unique and spontaneous.

GUIDES:

Native cycling guides are leaders in their profession have lead trips for a minimum of five years. Cultural guides are native of the area visited (in Hanoi, for example, your guide would be native of Hanoi). Guides are critical to the quality of your tour, in each country we cycle there are but a handful of capable ones specializing in cycling with the needed skills. Western guides co-lead specific trips. We would be happy to put you in contact with past travelers regarding your guides.
