Angkor: Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Siem Reap

One-hour flight from Saigon (Bangkok or Hanoi) to Siem Reap. Meet guide and after checking into hotel, begin exploring the magnificent temples of Angkor beginning with Angkor Thom, including Victory Gate, the Bayon, Baphuon, Phimean Akas, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. After lunch in town, exploring the highlights of the traditional "grand circuit," including Neak Poan, Eastern Mebon, Pre Rup and Preah Khan. The day concludes with a panoramic view of the area and dramatic sunset from the summit of Phnom Bakheng. Dinner and ovenight at Grand Hotel d'Angkor (or Angkor Village).

Day 2 Angkor

After breakfast, exploration of the highlights of the "petit circuit," including Prasat Kravan, the royal bathing pond of Sras Srang, Banteay Kdei, Takeo and jungle-clad Ta Prohm. After lunch in town, visit magnificent Angkor Wat, viewing its monumental architecture and extensive bas reliefs. Dinner and overnight in Siem Reap. Dinner and ovenight at Grand Hotel d'Angkor (or Angkor Village).

Day 3 Siem Reap to Bangkok

An unforgettable sunrise at Angkor Wat. Afterwards, visit the elegant and delicate temples of Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre. After lunch in town, we travel to Phnom Krom for a cruise on the Tonle Sap to witness contemporary Khmer culture, visiting floating villages fronting the lake. On return, en route to Siem Reap, we call in at Les Artisans d’Angkor, a workshop to redevelop traditional Cambodian artisan skills and the magnificent Angkor Conservancy where artifacts and sculptures are warehoused for safekeeping. Afterwards, transfer to the airport for onward flight.
